OUR STORY

Nutricycle is an "IPN" project owned by Columbi Farms. The project is a collaboration between Columbi Farms, SINTEF, NIBIO, and The Research Council of Norway. With "Nutricycle", we aim to develop a sustainable food production system where nutrients from land-based fish farms are extracted and made available as fertilizer for agriculture. At Columbi Farms, we aim to produce healthy plants with premium quality year-round. Our vertical farm will have a closed environment where all factors influencing plant growth are controlled with leading technology.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Decoupled aquaponics is a modern approach to aquaponic systems that separates the fish tank from the grow bed, allowing for greater flexibility and control. In traditional aquaponics, fish waste is circulated through the grow bed, providing plant nutrients. However,  as decoupled aquaponics separates fish production from plant production, giving the farmer more control over nutrient levels and environmental parameters.  Decoupled aquaponics can be more efficient, enabling optimizing of each system.

Decoupled aquaponics is a promising approach that offers greater flexibility and control and the potential for increased efficiency in aquaponic systems.
